Semper Fi Flys was established last year by Sgt Vernon Crews and Larry Kennedy. It is a program that introduces disabled vets to the art of tying flys. Those that learn will instruct those that haven't hopefully on a one to one situation. Sgt Vernons story tells all. Vernon is disabled from Vietnam. He flew over 300 missions as a crew chief on a CH46 USMC helicopter over a nineteen month period. He returned tothe States with post-traumatic stress and cancer caused by Agent Orange. Last year he mastered the art of tying flys which he believes has greatly helped his recovery both mentally and physically. He is now ready to share his knowledge with others. He rates with the best of tyers. The store has sold them and have fooled many a fish. |
